Central Yavapai Fire District
The Central Yavapai Fire District is located in central Yavapai County and provides fire protection services to 155 square miles which include the Town of Prescott Valley, Dewey/Humboldt area, Diamond Valley, Ponderosa Park, Highland Pines, portions of Williamson Valley, and the unincorporated areas of Prescott and Prescott Valley.
CYFD's Headquarters (Station 53) is located in Prescott Valley at 8555 E. Yavapai Road. The District currently operates from five stations and is part of a regional dispatch center, presently handling an average of 15,000 calls.
The District provides modern fire protection and paramedic emergency medical services. We have personnel in all five stations, ready for emergency response, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Currently, the District employs 66 firefighters and officers. In addition to fire protection and emergency medical services, our personnel respond to technical rescues, hazardous materials, conduct fire safety programs, fire investigations and business safety inspections. The District conducts CPR and First Aid classes for businesses and the general public. The District also provides other non-emergency services such as snake and reptile situations, general resident assists and walk-in blood pressure checks.
In order to provide modern fire protection services to such a vast area, the District has developed many partnerships with other area emergency services organizations. The primary partnerships include the City of Prescott Fire Department, Chino Valley Fire District, Mayer Fire District, Groom Creek Fire District, United States Forest Service, Arizona State Land and the Prescott Area Urban Wildland Interface Commission. Together, all these agencies have been able to increase the level of service to the communities while stabilizing our funding requirements. Because of the nature of our boundaries, we have an automatic aid agreement with several of these agencies which allows us to respond into each others areas depending on what station is closest to the call.
Other areas of cooperation between CYFD and PFD include joint dispatch , training, defensible space vegetation removal and an area wide Hazardous Material Response team. This cooperative approach allows us to serve the residents of the area communities without duplicating efforts.
Other alliances include mutual aid agreements with all the fire departments in Yavapai County.
